If you make a new session with 1 audio track and 2 instrument tracks, with a few delay inducing plugins on the audio track so it has a highly delayed output, an instance of Vacuum on one of the instrument tracks playing a sustained note, and an instance of boom on the second instrument track with a 1/4 beat hi hat or similar programmed on it. I've not tested this, but I would imagine from experiencing what I did in the session I was working on when noticing this. Is this the Automatic Delay Compensation that costs all that money doing it's business? I do this sort of stuff in Logic all the time, using Ultrabeat as a very quick way to trigger a gate with a drum pattern, and use any synth I want as the synth part. The result was a ridiculously out of time gated pad, there was no way to fix it except to record the Synth to an audio track and put it in time manually. I sent the 8th beat hihat to a bus, and set the bus as the ext key input on a digirack gate on the pad channel. I then wanted to add a rhythmically gated synth pad across the intro of the song, on request of the band, I thought the easiest way to do it would be to open an instance of Vacuum on one channel to make the pad sounds, and an instance of boom on a second channel to trigger the gate on the pad using a hihat sound. I was in the middle of a mix, so had plenty of plugins running, both RTAS and TDM, and no delay issues. I came across this very problem recently. On the other hand, if you use the Focusrite d3 the result is symmetric. Replace Comp/Lim Dyn 3 with Waves Renaissance Compressor or JoeMeek SC2 you get a similar asymmetric result. Now record one measure of the result on C.
